Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1 years
Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants
who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide specialized support as an Orientation and Mobility
Specialist serving K-12 students along the Southeast Texas Coast.
This position requires personalized services to assist visually
impaired students in developing essential travel and navigation
skills. The role is part-time, offering 16 hours per week across
two days, working within a school district setting starting early
January through late May. Key Responsibilities: Deliver orientation
and mobility instruction tailored to individual student needs
within K-12. Collaborate with educators and support staff to
integrate mobility strategies in school routines. Assess student
progress and adapt techniques to enhance independence and safety.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided.
Participate in relevant team meetings and professional development
opportunities. Qualifications: Active Orientation and Mobility
Specialist (OMS) Certification required. AVCREP Certification or a
similar credential preferred. Experience working with school-age
children in a mobility specialist role is beneficial. Strong
communication and collaboration skills. Ability to commit to an
on-site schedule of two full days per week. Location: On-site
position located in Aransas Pass, Texas, serving multiple K-12
