Description This position is a leadership role, supporting the Director in the county's efforts to increase economic investment and visitation in York County.. This position will have an active role in the development, delivery, and performance for all aspects of the department's efforts to promote tourism and stimulate economic development. The position will assist the Director and staff assigned to leading the county's economic development efforts to attract and maintain business and industry, and to encourage the maintenance and improvement of the quality of life in York County, by expanding the economic base. Develops short and long-range strategies regarding the County's investment in regional and state-wide tourism and economic development efforts. In the absence of the Director, assumes responsibility and authority for the operations of the department.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or higher is required in business or public administration, tourism marketing, economic development or a closely related field. Significant experience (more than 10 years) in leadership roles with a demonstrated track record of success; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Supplemental Information Must be available for evening, weekend, and holiday work and must be able to respond to calls after normal working hours.

Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Physical Demands Must be physically able to operate common office equipment such as personal computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Much of the work is sedentary in nature and involves sitting at a desk or in front of a computer, while doing administrative work. When retrieving supplies and monitoring programs and facilities, work involves some bending, stooping, climbing of stairs, and walking. There is occasional lifting of boxes, usually nothing weighing any more than 15-20 pounds.
