***Charge Nurse ICU Full Time***
Provides direct patient care including treatments, activities,
nourishment, drugs, and parenteral therapy in a safe and competent
manner to the medical, cardiac or surgical patient. Carries out
physician orders to ensure patient care is complete. Abides by
policy and procedure of hospital and established routines to assure
quality care is provided. Gives patient assignments and supervises
care of others when in charge.Supervision:
- Responsible for compliance with overall nursing practice
standards of the unit (Reports to Department Director)
- Responsible for compliance with standards during assigned shift
(Reports to House Supervisor)
- Uses established principles of delegation and supervision to
direct the activities of all licensed and non-licensed care givers
and support staff in the delivery of patient care during their
assigned shift
- Uses independent judgement to ensure optimal delivery of
patient care and appropriate use of available resourcesEducation:
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing with license in good
standing to practice as a Registered Nurse
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred--Experience:6 months
experience in applicable area.--Desired Qualifications-
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Previous supervisory experience
- Two or more years' experience in Progressive Care Unit or other
Related Area--Licenses/Certificates:
- License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in

- Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents
nursing care
- Assists physicians during examinations and procedures
- Performs various patient tests and administers medications
within the scope of practice of the registered nurse

goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions,
medications, and self-care skills
- Relies on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks
and accomplish goalsMinimum Requirements:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an
accredited RN program. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
preferred
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in
Texas, or license with a compact state required upon hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support
(BLS) certification required upon hire.--
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced
Life Support (PALS) certifications are required within 90 days of
hire.--
- TNCC required within one year of hire
- A minimum of two (2) years of RN experience in an acute care
setting--preferred--
