This contract role offers a platform for skilled ICU nurses to apply their expertise in a dynamic and patient-focused environment. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive critical care to adult patients in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), managing advanced procedures such as chest tube insertion, intubations, central and arterial line management, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. Nurses will need to adhere to strict documentation and unit policies, including punctuality and uniform standards, while participating in a rotating weekend schedule. Required qualifications and experience: Active Texas RN license (temporary licenses not accepted) Minimum 2-3 years of ICU experience, preferably in MICU or MSICU settings ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certification Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills Preferred qualifications: Exposure to intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation system This position offers the chance to work shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week and no call requirements. Contract length is approximately 13 to 26 weeks, with floating expected per hospital policy.
