Acute medical/surgical/telemetry experience within the last year -
Ability to care for 4-6 patients at a time Description: The unit
has 22 beds and approximately 30 staff members. The day shift
typically consists of 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 PCAs, and 1 unit
secretary. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 1-2
PCAs, and 0-2 sitters. The maximum patient ratio is 6:1. Standard
electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Candidates
preferred for this role will have 2 years of telemetry experience
with PCI and CABG. Typical procedures performed on the unit include
care of medical/surgical/telemetry patients. Standard nursing
skills required include IV insertion, urinary catheter insertion
and maintenance, and central line maintenance. Candidates must also
demonstrate proficiency in medication administration and
communication with all members of the care team. Documentation in
the electronic health record is essential. Candidates should be
able to perform continuous bladder irrigation and NGT insertion and
maintenance. EKG interpretation skills are also necessary. The
ideal candidate should be friendly, positive, patient-centered, and
team-focused. Weekend shifts may be required, but there is no
