Located in Victoria, Texas, this position is responsible for
oversight of store operations including weekly inventory and
dealing with the public. Must be able to operate a calculator or
cash register and handle financial transactions in a store
environment.Must be willing to work in daily weather condition to
include but not limited to humidity, rainy days, hot and cold days.
Primary responsibilities include watering plants, weeding, planting
and maintaining stock. Employee will greet customers, help customer
with their selections made, complete transactions and maintain the
presentation of the growing center. Propagation experience is a
plus but not required.
Must be able to work with special needs individuals.

Education: Minimum high school diploma or GED
Experience: Background and knowledge base in retail
nursery/gardening operations a plus. Experience working with
special needs population preferred. Must be able to work with
minimal day to day supervision.

While performing the duties of this position, an employee
regularly works outside in a nursery/growing center setting.
Individual must be willing to work in the heat when humid
conditions are present and adapt to the daily weather.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use
repetitive hand/finger movements; frequently required to grasp,
reach, stoop, and ben; and occasionally required to climb stairs
and/or ladders. An employee must also be able to follow oral and
written instructions and procedures.
The employee is required to routinely perform light lifting
and/or moving from 1 to 20 lbs, occasionally perform moderate
lifting and/or moving from 21 to 40 lbs., and occasional lifting
and/or moving of greater than 41 lbs.; requires vision and physical
ability to regularly operate Devereux equipment/vehicles; and must
be free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs,
alcohol, inhalants, and other chemical substances or controlled
Employee must demonstrate knowledge and skills to create a
pleasant shopping environment, offering special orders, individual
design and a unique shopping experience; demonstrates ability to
effectively process financial data including security and accuracy
of deposit information, accuracy of sales, gift certificates,
inventory control, accounts receivable, accounts payable and
delivery logs; consistently utilizes public relations skills to
foster positive impression of Devereux and its mission in the local
community and customer base; Demonstrates compliance with
Department of Health regulations in regards to retail operation;
personifies and models appropriate and positive character traits
and serves as significant role model to program participants;
develops appropriate goals/objectives to meet work adjustment needs
of participating individuals and ensures appropriate information is
communicated to Vocational Coordinator; demonstrates knowledge of
the procedures specifically related to retail operation.
Employee must recognize and respond promptly to internal and
external customers. Responds to telephone calls and requests in a
timely fashion. Utilizes professional demeanor and voice tone when
interacting with customers in person or via telephone. Displays
appropriate boundaries regarding staff/clients relationships as
well as personal and facility information. Builds effective
customer relationships by promptly addressing customer needs and
assisting them with resolution of issues. Recognizes necessity of
involving others if unable to adequately address the needs of the
customer; follows up to ensure needs have been met.
