Summary: Under direct supervision is responsible for cleaning the inside of rail cars to include tank cars and hopper cars. In addition, assists with maintaining the housekeeping of cleaning rack area, boiler room and offices to include picking up trash and general cleanup.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Complies with all safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Reads and understands cleaning work orders. Asks questions to get clarity of instructions as necessary. Dons appropriate PPE to include but not limited to respirator, coveralls, rubber boots, protective gloves, safety glasses and hard hat. Cleans railcars according to work order instructions using Butterworth Spinner Nozzle, Power Washing Equipment, brushes and other cleaning equipment.Competency: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies Safety - Maintains tools, equipment and work area in accordance with safe work practices and regulations. Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly. Technical Skills - Ability to learn the use of conventional cleaning equipment, respirators, and hand tools. Team Work - Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed; Recognizes accomplishments of other team members. Organizational Support - Follows policies and procedures. Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time. Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to very loud.
