Job Description:
Description Performs professional planning analysis and research
work in the Planning Division of the Department of Planning and
Development Services. Provides information and assists the general
public with the use permit/rezoning process; reviews and
coordinates review of such applications; prepares and presents
technical reports in such areas as land use, community facilities,
and environmental and economic impact of land development. May
serve as liaison to various Boards and Commissions; assists in
updating the Comprehensive Plan, performs similar strategic or
long-term planning projects; performs computer-assisted statistical
analysis for various planning and community development projects.
Minimum Qualifications Requires a Masters degree in urban planning,
geography, or a related field or a Bachelors degree in those same
areas and two (2) years of experience in planning at the local
government level, or any equivalent combination of education and
experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and
abilities. Supplemental Information Possession of a valid driver's
license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. AICP (American
Institute of Certified Planners) designation is preferred. Physical
Demands Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated
office machines including a computer, printer, copier, etc. Work
involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or
standing for periods of time, while doing site or field work.For a
