Job Description Overview: Prepares and paints exteriors of railcars to include tank cars and hopper cars. Occasionally, paints other industrial equipment such as skids, trailers, motors and various other parts. In addition maintains housekeeping of paint shop to include picking up trash and general cleanup. Depending on work load, this position may be assigned to other duties in other locations throughout the shop. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Job Requirements: Is safety minded and pushes safety throughout the shop. Is compliant with all safety rules and regulations. Meets production goals and covers time allowed on jobs, Completes job to include signing off on all required paperwork. Ability to use conventional painting equipment, airless painting equipment, blasting equipment, respirator and hand tools. Ability to learn how to tear down and repair same paint or blast equipment.. Maintains paint equipment keeping it in clean and in in good working order. Assists with repairs to paint pumps and spray equipment, lights, blast equipment. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling material Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights exceeding 6 feet off the ground with proper PPE and fall protection. Keep the work area clean and free of trash, scrap, and debris.
