Job Description:
Description Performs counseling and case management duties in
support of the Juvenile Services programs. Provides intensive
supervision to juveniles and their families. Evaluates client's
program progress. Coordinates community service work hours and may
conduct law-related education training. Evaluates referral forms,
individual case circumstances and determines appropriateness for
the programs or alternative placement options. Responsible for
preparing and submitting a variety of reports, and for maintaining
a variety of case file records.
Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience
equivalent to a bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology or a
related field with 2 to 4 years of experience in counseling or
related human services work
Knowledge of the procedures and techniques used in counseling
socially and emotionally maladjusted children, and some knowledge
of child and adolescent behavior required.
Requires the ability to organize and implement a variety of
programs for program participants.
Must exercise good judgment and resourcefulness in meeting
difficult non-routine problems and situations.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth
of Virginia with satisfactory driving record.
Requires acceptable criminal and child protective services
background checks.
Supplemental Information Must be able to work a flexible schedule
as hours may vary from week to week.
Physical Demands Must be physically able to operate a motor
vehicle. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move
objects. There is some stooping when installing electronic
monitoring equipment, and during routine visits. The work is
primarily sedentary in nature, but may involve walking or standing
for periods of time.
