Description:
The Victoria Advocate is seeking a full time Truck Driver who will
properly load the vehicle for the route. As a Truck Driver you will
be responsible for ensuring all supplies, manifests and tubs are
loaded suitably, checking out the vehicle for any mechanical issues
that need to be addressed, and servicing the truck upon return
trip, preparing for the next day. The days and hours worked are
generally Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities:-- Check vehicle for proper condition
and maintenance (Check oil, lights, water, fuel and tires prior to
leaving and upon return). -- Organize supplies, manifest, and tubs
for loading (Supplies include carrier envelopes and bags, unload
and clean tubs or van and load supplies. -- Load, secure and
deliver the correct number of bundles and keys to be delivered (may
include niche product magazines). Count bundles and keys and count
mailbags. -- Reach the drop-site as quickly and safely as possible
with the correct number of bundles and supplies. Separate carrier
bundles by route. Get mailbags to correct carrier or post office.
Deliver route and call in when short or over.-- Make return trip
safely and service vehicle upon return (Refuel vehicle, report
vehicle malfunctions and return manifest and keys to dock). --
Count manifest, count envelopes, separate envelopes, check keys
count, check bundle count prior to loading-- Load supplies, do
single copy operations (including rack maintenance) and help
dockworkers as needed. Unload tubs, count inserts, line tubs with
inserts, drive forklift-- Deliver and sort keys and bundles at drop
sites and deliver mail bags to post office when needed-- This job
description may not include all the critical actual or essential
job duties of this position. The supervisor may assign some tasks.

proof of insurance and acceptable driving record.-- Knowledge of or
ability to learn all aspects of loading and driving.-- Skills in
communication and ability to load, drive and deliver as instructed,
Help the dock workers as needed-- Must be able to handle newspapers
and assure they arrive in good condition-- Function as a
self-starter in performing daily work without supervision.-- Work
in deadline driven conditions and willing to make changes as
needed-- A daily desire to contribute to a positive work
environmentEducation and Experience: -- High School Diploma-- Truck
driving, warehouse and loading-- Able to read, write and speak
English at a level that allows them to perform the essential
function of the position.Physical Demands: -- Repeatedly lifting up
to 35 Lbs. from an awkward position.-- Walking and driving up to 8
hours per day in a deadline driven environment.-- Standing up to 4
hours per day on a metal or concrete surface-- Carrying up to 35
Lbs. occasionally-- Twisting movements required with weight in
hand-- Kneeling, bending, stooping movements are required-- Finger
dexterity is required.-- Capable of troubleshooting delivery
problems.-- Good communication skills and customer service
skills.-- Work up to 40 hours or more per weekWork Environment: --
Position is routinely exposed to extended times driving and
delivering papers to proper locations and required to be a safe
driver. -- Work outside in a variety of weather conditions
including high heat, cold and rain.-- Position may require working
around long or odd hours in the elements in a deadline driven
